The Catholic University of America created a central point of student life on the Washington, DC campus with this three-story student union building. The project is primarily constructed with post-tensioned, cast-in-place concrete with architecturally exposed steel structure throughout. The central atrium features exposed steel trusses supporting an expansive skylight. The architecture also features a cantilevered upper story, exposed structural columns and extensive integration of structural steel into exposed elements of the interior and exterior of the building.
